The Key Steps to Becoming a Renowned Shooter in India

Becoming a ‘renowned shot’ in India is a journey that requires dedication and commitment to progress through different stages. Let's break down the process to help you understand the steps you need to take to achieve your goal.

1-First Stage: Joining a Shooting Club and Learning the Basics

The first step towards becoming a renowned shot in India is to join a reputable shooting club. This is where you will learn the fundamentals of the sport and you'll be able to participate in various competitions, starting with club level, district level and pre-state competitions, which will provide you with the essential experience and exposure to excel in your future endeavors.

2-Second Stage: State Championship

Once a solid foundation has been established, it is time to compete in the State championships. Here is where you can prove your worth by getting the Minimum Qualifying Score (MQS) and making it to the Zonal Championship. Every year, these competitions are held, and shooters from all over the state take part. In addition, some of the best shooters who have already qualified for national-level competitions compete in these events as part of their preparation.

3-Third Stage: Zonal Championship and Pre-National Championship

The Zonal Championship is the next step on your path to becoming a ‘Renowned Shot’. Here, you will have the chance to compete with other skilled shooters from your region. To advance to the next level (National Championship), you must obtain the MQS again. The competition at the Zonal Championship is tougher because shooters from more than one state are there. If you don't get MQS in the Zonal Championship, you must compete in the Pre-National Championship (Mavlankar Shooting Championship) and get MQS for the National Championship.

4-Forth Stage: National Shooting Championship

The National Shooting Championship is the pinnacle objective for any aspiring shooter. You had to meet the MQS requirements in the previous stages to get into this prestigious event. Once you have competed in the National Shooting Championship and met the minimum requirements set by the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), you are given a "renowned shot certificate" and become a well-known shooter.
